Zoe Appointed New Director at HPA!
HPA looking to the future after awarding a directorship to one of its architects. Zoe Hooton has been made a director of the firm, joining long-serving directors Richard Wooldridge and Richard Parker.
Zoe, who joined the Castle Hill-based practice in 2012, said: “I’m really proud of this achievement. Qualifying as an architect was a special experience and now to be invited to become a director of this practice is an exciting opportunity. We’ve worked on some great projects together here and I’m looking forward to many more.”
Having grown up in the Lancaster area, Zoe studied her BA Hons in Architecture at Newcastle University and went on to study at Kingston University, London, at postgraduate level where she was recipient of a scholarship to study in Auckland, New Zealand.
She worked in a successful architecture studio on a number of high-end residential schemes in Northumberland and later moved to top London practice Assael where she was part of a large team developing a £150m mixed-use scheme. She returned to the area to work with HPA in 2012 when she qualified as an architect.
A council member of the Lancaster and Westmorland Society of Architects (LAWSA), Zoe has a keen interest in working on community projects and has gained specialist expertise working towards qualifications in historic building conservation.
She has worked on projects as diverse as the restoration of the Grade-1-listed St Peter’s Church in Heysham to a new multi-million-pound advanced manufacturing technology centre at Furness College. She is currently working on a major project for a luxury hotel extension in The Lakes, due to open in 2017.
Richard Wooldridge added: “Zoe’s an outstanding architect and has led on some major projects for us over the last couple of years. If we want to continue being successful, we need to reward and develop people so they can reach the highest levels within the company. This appointment offers Zoe the opportunity to help us shape the future of the practice to the benefit of us and our clients.”
