Works Progress At Royal Kings Arms Hotel
Construction works on the improvements to the Royal Kings Arms are now entering the final stages, after an eventful start. The repair and improvements to the external works of the Grade II listed Lancaster hotel are set to be completed in July 2022.
Ongoing works have revealed damages to the historic timber beams in both the brasserie and retail ground floor unit. Propping has been installed in these areas, to ensure the safety of users and pedestrians around the site. Due to this safety installation, there was a temporary closure of King Street – but all is reopen and in the process of being fixed.

Works on this building are progressing well as HPA collaborates with Thomas Consulting, devising strategies in moving forward with refurbishment. This will include stone elevations being repointed, and replacing the original timber windows with new heritage sash windows.
Rainwater goods are also being repaired, and new gutters are being fitted. HPA are taking into account the building’s heritage in their plans to enhance the hotel, preserving its historic detailing whilst improving the structure of the Royal Kings Arms.
