Ray Ockenden

Ray is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) with 9 years’ experience, delivering technically complex and safety-critical projects.

Upon completing his degree in Architectural Technology at the University of Central Lancashire, Ray moved to Oxford, where he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Historic Conservation at Oxford Brookes, combined with Kellogg College of Oxford University.

Rays’ background in practice started during the summer break between his 2nd and 3rd year at university, where he gained a placement working on the kitchen restoration of New College, Oxford University. Upon completing his educational studies, Ray secured a place at a conservation practice in the northwest, working on churches, listed homes and structures throughout the north of England. For the past 7 years, Ray has specialised in the nuclear sector, acting as Architectural Lead on Major Projects ranging from tens of thousands to projects exceeding £1 billion.

During his time in practice, Ray has worked through all stages of the design process from early concept through to construction, commissioning and handover. Ray is highly experienced in multidisciplinary coordination, site-based delivery and technical assurance.

During his time off, Ray is kept busy with his 1-year-old son and can often be found either at their Allotment, out hiking or cycling around Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire.
