Senior Architectural Technologist
Neil joined the practice in April 2024.
After graduating from college in 1991 Neil started his career working for an Architects
practice specialising in conservation and heritage projects where he worked on a number of
schemes including the refurbishment and development of Ellisland Farm, Dumfries (Robert
Burns leased the farm in 1788) and the world's oldest working post office in Sanquhar,
Dumfries and Galloway which has been open since 1712.
Moving to a larger multi disiplinary practice in 2001 he gained a wealth of experience in a
range of public sector buildings including public libraries, education and sports facilities
across Cumbria.
In 2015 Neil joined a practice specializing in sustainable architecture combined with a
variety of construction methods ranging from timber frame , Structural Insulated Panels
(SIP), Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF) to more traditional methods using natural
materials. Projects varied from highly energy efficient new and converted dwellings to the
refurbishment of an existing office building which has just been awarded PassivHaus
EnerPHit Certification, the first retrofit office building to meet this standard in the U.K.
Neil has lived in Cumbria all his life and is inspired by the natural beauty of the countryside
and coastlines. He loves spending time with his animals, camping and bushcraft
