Solving Tomorrow’s Problems Today: HPA Attends The Building Pathology Conference 2026
Earlier this month, HPA Director Zoë Hooton travelled to Oxford Brookes University, for H+R SOCOTEC UK’s Building Pathology Conference 2026.
The two-day annual conference brings together academics, researchers and industry professionals to explore the latest developments in building environment research, policy and technical innovation. With a focus on the factors affecting building performance and occupant wellbeing, the event provides an opportunity to share knowledge, discuss emerging challenges and explore practical solutions for an ever-changing built environment.

The key subjects covered at the conference this year included computational fluid dynamics (CFD) fire modelling, retrofit opportunities, property flood resilience and RAAC.
Zoë said, “This year’s conference covered a range of topics, such as RAAC surveying, research on BIM, the difficulties of addressing thermal comfort and a range of interesting case studies from all over the world.
“Taking time away from the office is never easy, but I left the conference with plenty of inspiration and ideas to share with the HPA team. Thanks so much to H+R for the invite, and the knowledge shared by the speakers.
Events such as Building Pathology 2026 provide valuable opportunities to stay up to date with developments across the industry, share knowledge and bring new ideas back into practice.
HPA remains committed to promoting best practice and continuing to develop our knowledge and expertise to support our clients and the wider built environment. If you’d like to discuss an upcoming project, contact us here.
