Planning Application Submitted for 50 New Homes in Galgate
HPA have now made a Planning Application for 50 new homes in Galgate, approximately 4 miles south of Lancaster City Centre.
The Outline Planning Application is for a mix of 2, 3, & 4 bedroom houses on a site bordered by Stoney Lane and the A6. The site currently contains a Touring Caravan Site and some small sheds / garages.
The area had previously been overlooked on the grounds of access issues by Lancaster City Council’s Consultants, when they undertook their ‘call for sites’ a few years ago. However, following extensive feasibility surveys and investigation work, followed by Pre-Application discussions with the Lancashire County Highways Department and the Highways Agency, the scheme is now submitted for Planning with agreement in principle with the statutory consultees, regarding Highways issues.
Galgate is a popular village, located to the South of Lancaster. The village is less than a mile from the M6 J33, and less than two miles from Lancaster University. There are a good provision of local facilities within walking distance from the site (Shop, Pubs, Doctor’s Surgery, and a Primary School), and principal bus-routes pass the site entrance. There is also easy access from the village to popular recreational areas such as the Forest of Bowland AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and the Coast.
A Planning Decision is expected in December 2012.
