Lancaster On Ice Returns for Winter 2021
We may be experiencing the hottest temperatures of the year but operations are underway to bring Lancaster on Ice and the Big Wheel, back to Lancaster for winter 2021. HPA have helped secure planning permission for the installation for the next 5 years (with the Big Wheel due back for the second year.)
As Lancaster’s main attraction during the festive period, the site located in Dalton Square in the heart of the city centre, provides festive fun for all the family with an array of food and drink stalls in the traditional Bavarian Christmas market style.
At 120 feet high, the Big Wheel towers over the square and is Europe’s largest portable observation wheel, offering views across the historic city and the neighboring Lake District.
After such a successful season back in 2019 with an estimated 90,000 people visiting during the six weeks it ran between November and January and after a year off due to the Covid-19 pandemic , it is hoped that this year will bring in more tourists than ever when it opens on November 21.
HPA are looking forward to getting into the seasonal spirits at the markets, ice rink and wheel which were sorely missed last year.
