HPA Welcomes Peers from Harrison Stringfellow for Skills Exchange
This week, HPA had the pleasure of hosting the team from Liverpool-based Architects Harrison Stringfellow at our Castle Hill offices in Lancaster, for a ‘Skills Swap’ day.
The visit began with a tour of the new Moorlands Church Welcome Building on High Street – a recently completed adaptive re-use project linking the original church with the recently acquired former URC Buildings – designed by OMI Architects of Manchester.
After a delicious lunch catered by The Old Gun Shop on Great John Street, the group took a walking tour of the Lancaster Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) in the canal quarter, viewing regeneration work including the transformation of the former carriage house on St Leonard’s Gate, home to family-run furniture business Quality Plus. The day continued with a site visit to Lancaster Castle to review works in progress at the Well Tower.

The team also had the opportunity to meet our sister company, Woohoo. As specialists in heritage and sustainability, Woohoo support homeowners, businesses, and organisations to improve the energy performance of historic and listed buildings while protecting their unique character. Discussions covered a wide range of topics, from retrofitting approaches to planning guidance, with a focus on practical solutions that balance conservation priorities with energy efficiency goals.
At HPA, we are committed to continuous learning and the development of our whole team. Sharing knowledge with our peers strengthens our practice, sparks new ideas, and builds on our collective experience. It was a pleasure to host the Harrison Stringfellow team and continue this meaningful exchange.
