HPA Submits Planning for Funeral Centre in Blackburn
HPA are delighted to announce that planning has been submitted for the Masjid al-Momineen Funeral Centre Project in Blackburn.
Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, Masjid al-Momineen Blackburn faced many difficulties in serving their local community through the funeral services they offer as the existing facilities did not meet the current industry standards. The devistating reality for the business was that, due to new legislation, they couldn’t even facilitate the funeral services at the Mosque for their own two Imams who sadly passed away from COVID.
This current project aims to remove those obstacles and provide better funeral facilities for the present and future community. The purpose built funeral building will include; a dedicated Ghusl Khanna and shrouding area, Deedar and Taziyyat facilities and designated rooms for men and women.
The Mosque Committee commissioned HPA to investigate and create designs for the community and funeral centre and the artists impressions shown below illustrate the aspirations for the site. The materials chosen externally create a simple, uncluttered, yet contemporary appearance and harmonise with the materials in the immediate context, providing a visual link to the adjacent Mosque.
Masjid al-Momineen have set up a JustGiving page to raise money for the purpose built centre so if you would like to contribute to helping create this wonderful community asset, donate here.
