HPA Shortlisted for North West Business of the Year Awards 2023
The shortlist for the 2023 North West Business of the Year awards has been revealed, highlighting successful, innovative and growing companies from across the region.
We are pleased that HPA has been selected as a finalist in the Community Impact category. The rigorous judging process involved a visit by a member of the judging panel, before the shortlist was chosen.
We are simultaneously delighted and surprised to have been recognised for our impact in our local Lancaster and Morecambe community. The way in which we engage with the wider world shapes our strategy and design. Working with local authorities and communities, we take into consideration the needs of all stakeholders to find new ways to use buildings and create a positive impact that resonates. We place great emphasis on bringing communities together, sharing the practice’s love of architecture.
HPA support several charities that promote equality and education such as The Architects Benevolent Society, where we also work with this organisation to aid fundraising. We specialise in designing for charity groups, supporting funding applications, and have recently become active members of Learning Disability England.
We value the importance of listening and working with people to create remarkable places that have a positive, lasting impact. The consideration for individuals and the environment is at the forefront of our practice.
HPA gives back to the community through voluntary design and youth outreach work, including assisting local youth charity Escape2Make (E2M). Having supported the creation of E2M’s Youth Architecture Group, we hold regular sessions with them and provide inclusive, interactive activities for people of all ages. Alongside volunteers, HPA have previously organised two youth architecture days in conjunction with the Museum of Architecture in London.
We aspire to make architecture approachable, affordable and a benefit to all.
Alex Turner, joint managing director of TheBusinessDesk.com, said: “The judges have been really impressed by the achievements and ambitions of businesses as they have travelled around the North West meeting management teams.
“Because of the calibre of entrants across the categories, unfortunately many companies who entered haven’t made the shortlist. Those that have been shortlisted really stood out and the judges will have tough decisions to make in choosing winners.”
The winners will be revealed at an awards dinner in Manchester on October 18, 2023.
