HPA Prepare To “Race The Train” To Raise Funds For The Talyllyn Railway 75 Appeal

On Saturday 17th August 2024, HPA Director and Specialist Conservation Architect Zoë Hooton will be joining Team TR75 to “Race The Train”, raising much-needed funds for the Talyllyn Railway ‘75 Appeal’.

HPA is proud to support the 75 Appeal, fundraising to support a major redevelopment project across the railway. 75 years on from being designated as the World’s First Preserved Railway, the 75 Appeal was launched in March 2024, aiming to raise £500,000 over five years (£100,000 a year) to fund the ambitious redevelopment and ensure the Talyllyn Railway thrives for the next 75 years.

“Race The Train” is an annual cross-country running event that takes place in Tywyn, Gwynedd, and sees runners compete to beat one of the Talyllyn steam trains over a distance of 14 miles! Organised by Tywyn Rotary Club, the race attracts runners from all over the World.

Ahead of the event, Zoë notes, “I’m a little terrified of the course after picking up an injury, but I’m determined to try and help raise money for the TR75 team after being welcomed to such a special community”

You can support Zoë and Team TR75 in “Race The Train” this year, ensuring a bright future for the Talyllyn Railway: to donate and find out more about this amazing project go to https://donate.talyllyn.co.uk/appeal/home/TeamTR75

Good luck Zoë!
