HPA Make Planning Application for 148 Houses, Kendal
A Planning Application has now been submitted on behalf of Oakmere Homes, for 148 new homes on the southern edge of Kendal, Cumbria.
The proposed 148 houses are a mix of sizes from 1 – 5 bedrooms, and 52 of the houses will be affordable. The masterplan has been carefully designed to include a 30 metre wide wildlife corridor along the line of the stream, through the centre of the site. Great effort has also gone into working out the profile of the area, so many of the houses can enjoy the panoramic views over Kendal and towards the Kentmere Valley. The site is located conveniently next to the Westmorland General Hospital and is a 5 minute walk from the mainline station at Oxenholme.
This is first Application involving land on the edge of Kendal, which has recently been identified by South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) as being suitable for new housing. We believe that this is one of the best of the identified sites, as it is easily accessible and lies in close proximity to public transport and essential services.
A decision is expected by the end of 2012.
