HPA Deliver Planning & Remodelling for Holiferm
HPA have assisted Holiferm with the planning and redesign of their first commercial biosurfactant site in Birkenhead. HPA worked closely with Holiferm, helping them to achieve planning permission for the new entrance and substation at the site as well as assisting the remodel for their internal staff areas.
The refurbishment of the site incorporated a new staff, visitor and client space that is designed to be informal and bring a sense of relaxation to the existing building. The staff recreational area incorporates lunch benches and an activity zone with adapted container spaces for a gym and office. Informal meeting spaces are also provided with the addition of phone/meeting booths.
Holiferm develops processes to manufacture sustainable bio-based products for use at commercial scale. The plant, located in Wallasey, Birkenhead is a first of its kind facility and Holiferm hopes to design, test, patent and roll out more processes that produce biosurfactants, helping them to meet their mission to facilitate the manufacture of holistically sustainable bioproducts at a value point at which they are affordable to everyone. By doing this they are also therefore eliminating the need for petrochemicals.
It is hoped that the new plant will spring board Holiferm to commercial success and help the biosurfactant community to work together towards a common goal to remove the need for petrochemical based production methods.
Having only had the premises since 2022, Holiferm set an ambitious target of being running and operational within a year. All involved worked hard to reach their target which was achieved and celebrated during the opening ceremony at the site in February 2023.
