HPA Architects wins at the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2026

We are delighted to share that Estuary Hill, a brand-new 25-home housing development from Wilson & Co Properties Ltd in the village of Cockerham, has been named the North West Regional Winner for Best Medium Volume New Housing Development at the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2026.

HPA Architects supported the project from the early planning stages through to construction, helping bring the development to life. Our works included detailed planning and site layout design, detailed house type drawings, Building Regulations packages, landscaping proposals and legal deed plans, alongside ongoing technical support to the client and contractor team as the project progressed on site.

Reflecting on the achievement, Richard Wooldridge, Director at HPA, said “We are delighted to see the Estuary Hill development recognised with a regional award. From the outset, our aim was to support in creating a scheme that responds thoughtfully to its surroundings, while delivering high-quality homes. This award is a wonderful recognition of the entire Estuary Hill team, between us as the architects and all project partners; we’re delighted to see the development making a positive contribution to the local community.”

A Proven Track Record

This latest accolade marks an incredible milestone for the practice: it is the third regional win in the last seven years for an HPA-designed residential development in partnership with Wilson & Co Properties Ltd, following national success in 2022, where the project team were awarded Best Medium Volume New Housing Development.

We would like to extend our congratulations and thanks to the wider collaborative team, including Wilson & Co Properties Ltd, L&W Wilson Ltd, R G Parkins & Partners Ltd, and the Lancaster City Council Building Control team.

What’s Next?

As a regional winner, Estuary Hill now automatically qualifies for the national judging panel. The development will compete against the best projects from across the country at the LABC Grand Finals, taking place in January 2027.

HPA Architects continues to deliver a diverse range of residential, commercial, and heritage projects across the North West and beyond. If you have an upcoming project you would like to discuss with our award-winning team, please get in touch.
