HPA Architects Join the Lancashire Skills Pledge

HPA Architects are pleased to announce our acceptance as members of the Lancashire Skills Pledge, a county-wide initiative led by the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub. The pledge recognises organisations that are actively supporting skills development, employment and career progression across Lancashire.
By joining, our practice becomes part of a network of more than 320 businesses committed to strengthening skills and opportunity throughout the region.
A Long-Standing Commitment Recognised
Becoming a Lancashire Skills Pledge member formally recognises activity that has been embedded in the practice for many years. As a Lancashire-based practice, we have long supported routes into architecture and the wider built environment through:
- school careers fairs and outreach
- work experience placements
- summer and year-out opportunities
- apprenticeships and training pathways
- mentoring and structured professional development
The Skills Pledge provides a clear framework for this work and connects it to a wider county-wide effort to develop skills, aspiration and opportunity.
Supporting Fair Work and Good Employment
Our acceptance into the Lancashire Skills Pledge also strengthens our commitment to fair and responsible employment. As a result, HPA Architects’ status within the Lancaster City Council Fair Work Charter has been elevated from member to ambassador.
This reflects the close relationship between skills development and fair work, and recognises our approach to employment, which focuses on meaningful training and progression, inclusive and supportive workplace practices, wellbeing and work–life balance, equality and respect, and long-term careers rather than short-term roles.
A County-Wide Skills Network
As a Skills Pledge member, HPA Architects will continue to engage with the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub, sharing good practice and learning from other organisations across the county. This includes participation in skills and employment events, webinars and regional initiatives supporting the future workforce.
Looking Ahead
We are proud to be recognised through the Lancashire Skills Pledge and to take on an ambassador role within the Fair Work Charter. Both reflect our belief that investing in people through skills, opportunity and fair employment is fundamental to the long-term resilience of our practice and the wider profession.
