Heritage Open Days 2026: Everyday Histories
Every September, Heritage Open Days offers visitors a unique opportunity to discover some of the UK’s most fascinating historic buildings and places. With free events, guided tours and exclusive access to heritage sites, 11th to 20th September 2026 provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the North West’s rich architectural legacy.
This year’s theme, “Everyday Histories”, shines a spotlight on the people whose lives shaped our buildings, communities and landscapes, encouraging us to look beyond bricks and mortar and uncover the stories of the people who lived, worked and gathered in the historic places around us.
A number of buildings we have helped look after are open for special visits and tours, including Christ Church, Lancaster, and Lancaster Castle.
