Green Light for 21 Homes in Arnside and Silverdale National Landscapes
Proposals to build 21 new homes in the National Landscapes area near Lancaster have moved a step closer after the proposed development secured outline Planning Permission.
HPA has secured the Permission on behalf of the landowner for a mixed-tenure scheme at Millhead, near Warton, in the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscapes. The one hectare site is currently used as an agricultural field but is bordered by residential land on three sides. The proposed development will provide a mix of open market and affordable housing.
The 2 and 3 bedroom homes have been designed to complement existing housing and will use materials prevalent in the local area, including natural stone. The proposed development also features bungalows at the top of the site to reduce any visual impact when viewed from nearby Warton.
Richard Wooldridge, architect at HPA, said: “It has been a seven year process for the landowner to gain Planning Permission for this site after an original application failed at appeal in 2007. After being brought on board, we have worked with the landowner, planners, and a range of local stakeholders to devise a new housing scheme that will not only boost the supply of new housing in this picturesque rural area, but one that also addresses the concerns of local residents.”
“We have a long track record of designing homes in sensitive areas and this will be a carefully designed scheme that will deliver high-quality sustainable homes in an area of high housing need.”
The site has now been sold, subject to Contract, to a developer which plans to submit a detailed Planning Application in 2015. The homes are expected to be completed later in 2016.
