Enhancing the Welcome: Our Vision for Poston Mill
HPA Architects are delighted to be working once again with Morris Leisure to support the ongoing evolution of Poston Mill Touring and Holiday Home Park, nestled in the heart of Herefordshire’s stunning Golden Valley.
Our recently submitted planning application focuses on the creation of a new reception building – a thoughtfully designed structure that will replace the existing temporary facility, which has served the site for over 30 years. This new building is more than just a reception – it’s a gateway to the Poston Mill experience.
Designing with Purpose and Place
The architectural design draws inspiration from the natural beauty and rural charm of the Golden Valley. We’ve aimed to create a building that feels welcoming, functional, and in harmony with its surroundings. Using materials and forms that reflect the local vernacular, the new reception will offer a warm first impression while improving operational efficiency for staff and guests alike.
Key design intentions include:
- Improved accessibility and circulation, with a widened access road and a dedicated waiting line to ease arrival flow.
- Softened turning radii around the reception area to better accommodate caravans and delivery vehicles.
- A structure that blends contemporary comfort with traditional character, reflecting the spirit of Poston Mill.
A Park with Personality
Poston Mill is a vibrant community space which already boasts a pub/restaurant, facilities block, football pitch, mini golf course, dog walking field, and an on-site shop, all set within a landscape of rolling hills and rich greenery. With excellent transport links and future potential for expansion, the park continues to grow as a premier destination for tourers and holidaymakers.
Our work at Poston Mill is part of HPA’s broader commitment to designing spaces that respect heritage, enhance visitor experience, and support sustainable growth. Poston Mill is the sixth site we have worked on for Morris Leisure over a collaborative 30-year relationship, having also worked on sites in Llanberis, Betws-y-Coed, Stanmore, Ludlow and Oxon.
