Building Futures: HPA Partner with Lancaster School of Architecture
HPA have partnered with Lancaster School of Architecture at Lancaster University to provide teaching support for their Architecture design modules.
This year HPA are working with second year students on a live project reimagining the home of Lancaster Music Co-op, a building which has been unoccupied for many years. The building was used as a rehearsal facility, recording studio and music space for the music community in Lancaster and the surrounding area. Such buildings present a unique set of challenges and opportunities, encouraging students to think creatively about how to repurpose and revitalize the space to fit with the needs of the client users.
Site Visit-
Our Architect is supporting the students step-by-step, starting with a site visit to understand the building and progressing through an urban study, brief development, and design proposal, mirroring the actual workflow in the architecture and design profession. This approach not only equips students with technical skills but also helps them develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
This work with the students adds a practical and hands-on dimension to their learning experience. This partnership will help the students bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that the students are well-prepared for the challenges they will face in their future careers.
