Warton Grange Farm is a high-quality, residential development located in Warton; which lies in the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The development contains 25 properties, which includes detached, semi-detached, and terraced houses.
Warton Grange Farm was originally a dairy farm containing a number of agricultural buildings. HPA were first commissioned in 2015 by the site’s previous owner to obtain Outline Planning Permission, before marketing the site to potential developers.
The site was bought by Wilson & Co Properties who are a medium-sized house builder, focusing on quality and customer service. Wilson & Co recently won a coveted LABC Award for their development at nearby Moss Bank Place (also designed by HPA).
Wilson & Co engaged HPA to act as both Architect and Planning Consultant for the remainder of the project. HPA worked closely with the Local Planning Authority to develop the site layout and house designs; before obtaining Reserved Matters Planning Permission. In the later stages of the project, HPA produced the Construction Drawings and provided assistance to the onsite team.
The result is a high quality development, where the buildings are designed to reflect the local vernacular within the AONB. The houses use materials which are prevalent in the local area, such as stone for the walls and slate for the roofs. The onsite road network is designed to look like a series of linked courts, with a large central space which references a village green. The site layout is designed to create a spacious atmosphere and generate a strong community feel.
