Architectural Work in Lancashire

The University of Cumbria is one of the largest further education establishments in the North West. It has campuses in Lancaster, Carlisle, and Ambleside.

HPA has worked on a number of projects at the University of Cumbria (and previously St Martin’s College) over the past 20 years.

At the Lancaster Campus, HPA completed the Arts Building, which contains a number of teaching rooms, recording studios, media suites and an art gallery. The building was designed to fit in with its surroundings, while providing a contemporary touch to the campus.

At Carlisle, the new Sports Hall was built as a key piece of the regeneration of the Carlisle Campus. The building contained a main multi-purpose hall which can be divided into four badminton courts, as well as a fitness suite and associated facilities. The building intentionally blends in with its surroundings on a restricted site and was designed and built to meet a tight budget.

Other projects have included the Carrock Halls of Residence at Carlisle, containing 80 bedrooms, and various works at Lancaster, including recent works on the Chapel and for the upgrading of the main Car Park.
