The Samling Hotel, located in the heart of The Lake District, features stunning visuals across Lake Windermere and over 67 acres of beautiful English countryside. HPA consistently work with the Samling, taking leads on Planning and Design in order to enhance this aesthetic site, and improve upon its existing, popular leisure facilities.
THE JETTY
The original Samling Jetty was an admired and historic tourist attraction for the Hotel, but since suffering storm damage in 1992, it had been left unattended and lacking construction. However, this wasn’t for lack of trying. Over the last 30 years, there have been numerous attempts at Planning Applications to reinstate this vital feature – yet, all appeared to fall short.
With HPA coming onto the scene in 2019, we were enlisted by The Samling to restore the Jetty’s potential and by 2021, we had successfully secured Planning Approval by the Lakeland District Council. As an improvement to water based sports and sustainable transportation, the Jetty is designed to retain its historical timber structure and restore the original steps.
The Jetty is now open for use at The Samling Hotel, available to all guests and travelling visitors.
THE DUTCH BARN WINDOW
HPA were entrusted by our Client to handle construction tender details, adapt a building plan, and secure permission for the installation of a giant, monumental window onsite at the recently refurbished Dutch Barn. Working diligently to complete the construction within four months, we also retrofitted the building’s structure to improve its existing site, which will benefit future sustainability and performance.
The window currently stands at 2.1m by 8.4m, offering stunning and immersive panoramic views of the Lake District and Windermere. The space will be utilised adequately as a function room, and will be an exciting addition to the already incredible location.
