St Johns Church, Yealand Conyers - HPA

St John’s Church is situated in the village of Yealand Conyers, on the Lancashire and Cumbria border. The building dates from the mid-Victorian era, since when it has seen few major changes.

The PCC embarked upon an ambitious project with HPA to make the building more accessible to the village community.

The church has been re-ordered, making the main space more flexible for services, concerts, lectures and other activities. Two new meeting rooms have been created to provide a home for the ever growing Sunday school, and also to create smaller rooms which can be used by community groups at other times. A new brew station has also been created in a discreet location at the rear of the North Aisle and the WC moved in to a more convenient and accessible location.

Finally, a 4KW array of Solar Panels have been placed within a roof valley, which cannot be seen from the road, to generate electricity for the church to sell to the grid.
