PRIMARY SCHOOL UPDATES AND NURSERY ADDITION
HPA were appointed by Mossgate Primary School as Contract Administrator and Principal Designer to assist with alterations to improve their early years facilities. This has allowed for the provision of new nursery places and wrap-around care.
Mossgate, located in Heysham, Lancashire, submitted plans to the Department of Education to request funds to make a number of modifications to existing space within the school to allow them to open a school-based nursery, backed by a new government scheme. This allows for the provision of more nursery places, important now the number of free hours allocated to children under 2 years old has doubled. They were one of a small number of schools to successfully apply for the funding, receiving the maximum award possible.
The funding has allowed the school, with HPA’s guidance, to remodel areas of the school to provide nursery-appropriate toilet and kitchen facilities. New protected external spaces allow direct drop off and play areas, and an additional external door has been created to give direct access to these new spaces.
With HPA’s help, all the changes were ready to welcome the new nursery and existing children back to school at the start of term.
