HPA worked with longstanding client The Borough, Lancaster, to help bring community architecture to the city with a pop-up ice rink and Christmas markets to the historic Dalton Square for Christmas 2018.
Hannah and Martin Horner, owners of The Borough, worked with Chris Selkirk of Sustainable Festivals to make the Lancaster On Ice project a reality.
Our role in the project was to advise on obtaining the relevant planning permissions to turn Dalton Square into a winter wonderland between November 24, 2018 and January 6, 2019.
It’s the first time the city has had a pop-up ice rink, helping to attract thousands of extra visitors and shoppers to the city over the festive period.
