HPA have submitted a Listed Building Application to improve accessibility at Lancaster Golf Club, located at Ashton Hall. We developed and designed a handrail for the external staircases, required to accommodate the demographic of the Club and comply safely with Part M Regulations.

Ashton Hall is a Grade I Listed Building, with roots dating back to William the Conqueror – subsequently, it lies in the top 2.5% of the country’s most important buildings. Most of the Golf Club’s facilities can be found within the Hall, so it was vital to enhance the ease of accessibility to this existing site – without damaging its historical and listed significance.

HPA supported the Club with the documentation and detail of the bespoke handrail, designed to maintain the symmetry of the original Gothic sandstone, retaining its aesthetic and history whilst sympathetically altering it to fit the current, changing needs. The Application was submitted to the Lancaster City Council (LCC) for approval, which was later granted positively.
