The Abbeyfield Society have been longstanding clients of HPA for over a decade now. We have designed, detailed, and led construction in delivering independent housing and community space at Cove Orchard, ensuring that the natural landscaping of the surrounding National Landscape was appreciated, rather than hindered by these works.
Cove Orchard contains 14 retirement properties, in the picturesque village of Silverdale, Lancashire, sitting within the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape.
The development is in a coastal site and comprises eight two-bedroom bungalows, two three-bedroom dormer bungalows, and four two-bedroom apartments. The units are set in the grounds of Abbeyfield residential care home and provide assisted living accommodation to those wishing to maintain their independence.
This project won a Lancaster Design Award in 2014, in recognition for the scheme’s design which respected the historic character of the National Landscape whilst still offering high standards of living to retired residents.
