This project saw a significant extension to a 19th century farmhouse in a rural setting on the southern outskirts of Lancaster.
The original house was extended and completely refurbished in such a way that the original section of the house could easily be distinguished from the new extension. However, the character and form of the original structure were used to influence the design of the extension.
The new extension contains extensive glazing which allows views over the city towards the Lake District and the Howgills, while allowing great quantities of natural light to enter and enhance the internal living space.
The entire building has been insulated to very high standards to provide low running costs and low energy consumption. A sustainable Ground Source Pump Heating system has been installed.
