The Borough - HPA

HPA has overseen the hotel Architecture project to transform a derelict floor and neighbouring building of Grade II Listed Lancaster-based gastro pub: The Borough into a nine-bedroom hotel wing. It means The Borough can now offer on-site accommodation for wedding parties, tourists, and business professionals.

Since opening its doors in May 2014, the hotel has attracted an abundance of tourists and business professionals, generating an average occupancy rate of over 90 per cent. Throughout the project HPA worked closely with the conservation team at Lancaster City Council to maintain the style of the historic structure which was listed as a Grade II building in 1953.

The Horner family opened the building as The Borough in 2006. Spread over three floors, The Borough is an award-winning pub restaurant and hotel, and is the only Michelin recommended eatery in Lancaster.
