HPA was appointed by Another Place to draw up plans for sensitive restoration, refurbishment, and extension of the former Rampsbeck Hotel, on the shores of Ullswater.
Our Client wanted the hotel to make the most of its unique location and topography, benefitting as it does from a quarter of a mile of lakeside frontage. Known as The Lake, the hotel was the first to open as part of Another Place’s new unique collection of hotels that reflect their distinct and exceptional location.
Set in 18 acres of the Lake District National Park, the four-star property already had Planning Permission for a sizeable extension containing additional rooms and leisure facility to the south of the main building.
However, our solution was to remodel this area, and other parts of the hotel, to increase the number of bedrooms from 19 to 40, including 10 family suites, an informal bar and dining space to complement the existing oak-panelled restaurant, a 20-metre indoor swimming pool, treatment rooms, and a redesigned entrance and reception.
The plans have helped Another Place achieve the distinct mix of active, social, and relaxed hospitality for which it wants its hotels to be known.
