Community Architecture with The Bendrigg Trust
HPA worked with its longstanding client the Bendrigg Trust on a £1.5m improvement programme.
Bendrigg Trust specialises in delivering high quality courses for disabled and disadvantaged people. It aims to promote inclusion, encourage independence and build self-confidence through the safe provision of adventurous activities.
This particular project saw the creation of a new fully wheelchair-accessible residential unit, named Acorn House, to replace an outdated facility at the site.
Acorn House has 24-beds spread over two accommodation wings with 10 en-suite bedrooms sleeping two to four people in each.
As well as the accommodation, it has a central lounge, self-catering kitchen, dining area and games room.
